More big news for Alberta!
Lois Mitchell, business icon, long-time volunteer, and community leader, has been appointed as the next Lieutenant Governor of Alberta!
Mitchell is the senior partner and founder of Rainmaker Global Business Development and has a long history in business and charitable work. She is currently the governor of the Canadian Women’s Hockey Association and serves on the boards of UBS Bank Canada, Mitacs and Canada World Youth. Her past roles include being chair of the Calgary Chamber of Commerce and being a board member of the Alberta Foundation for the Arts and the Special Olympic Foundation.
In 2012, Mitchell was made a member of the Order of Canada.
The Governor General appoints lieutenant-governors on the advice of the prime minister to serve five-year terms where they act as provincial representatives of the Queen. It is a great honour to be chosen.
