In a historic win, Rachel Notley, Canadian politician and lawyer, has been designated as the Premier of Alberta – the second female Premier of this province! A Member of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta for Edmonton-Strathcona and leader of the Alberta New Democratic Party, Notley claimed her place as the 7th female premier in Canada’s history – and only one out of the current three female premiers (the other two are Premier Kathleen Wynne of Ontario and Premier Christy Clark of British Columbia).
Her party won a majority, with 53 out of 87 seats in the Legislature.
Congratulations to Notley for her win and for inspiring more women to get involved in politics! We look forward to seeing more female Premiers in Canada’s future.
