Woman of the Day 2015 #10

Julia Gillard is a former Australian politician who served as the 27th Prime Minister of Australia and the Australian Labor Party leader from 2010 to 2013. She was the first woman to hold either position.

Currently a distinguished fellow with the Center for Universal Education at Brookings and Chair of the Global Partnership for Education, Gillard is a strong proponent of the power of universal education. She tackles the issues such as overcoming barriers to achieving universal education, why quality education is so important, and what needs to be done in the post-2015 development agenda to achieve gender equity in education.
